On November 2, 2010, I had the honor of being elected your sheriff, and on January 4, 2011, I had the privilege of being sworn into office. Already a significant transformation of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office is beginning. The department will become a regional leader in public safety as we:

• Providing safety through community policing (pdf)
• Restoring trust through fiscal responsibility (pdf)
• Collaborating with local law enforcement (pdf)
• Encouraging diversity to reflect the community (pdf)
• Improving service through technology (pdf)
• Connecting with youth to build for the future (pdf)

In addition, we will focus on our core functions (law enforcement, detention, and court services), review how we deliver services, and build healthy relationships. The people of Ramsey County expect a Sheriff’s Office that is responsive to community needs and is a regional resource that is able to work alongside all of our law enforcement and community partners. Together, we will become that trusted, accountable, and valued partner.

I would like to thank you for your help and support that made our big victory possible. I would also like to thank the transition team, members of the Sheriff’s Office, the County Manager, and county department directors that have helped make this transition.

Thank you again for your support and ideas as we begin this new era.

2011 Values Scorecard

Sheriff Matt Bostrom sought the Office of Sheriff based on a vision for law enforcement and public safety that encompasses six values. The 2011 Values Scorecard (pdf) briefly explains the major initiatives that he has led during the last year. Each initiative reinforces Sheriff Bostrom’s commitment to transform the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department into a regional leader in public safety.
